Solo SetsThe basic self-defense and fighting movements of Kung Fu are combined together in logical sequences called forms or Kuen (fist sets). Our forms, which were developed by ancient masters through long training and real life experiences, provide us with a library of self-defense techniques. They are the primary form of exercise in our school. Form training contains all the elements necessary for exercising the whole body, they are ideal for keeping physically fit. Anyone can use form training to improve physical and mental health, regardless of ability or age. |
Sparring SetsSparring sets require training partners to perform a choreographed fight sequence. This can help students learn how to apply the techniques found in solo sets. Combining techniques together with another person also requires the development of teamwork and good timing. Sparring sets can be performed with empty hands or with weapons. |

Weapon SetsMany styles of Kung Fu have a unique set of weaponry that distinguish them from the other martial arts. Weapon forms require strength, stamina and coordination. At Fu Hok Studio we currently teach broadsword, staff, spear, Kwan Do, tiger fork and fan. |
Technique PracticeIndividual techniques are often practiced as a group in a classroom setting, or with partners. This helps students understand the proper application of their kung fu skills. Situations to which the techniques can be applied can include; classical methods, criminal attack situations (self-defense), or sport (controlled sparring). |

SparringControlled classroom sparring sharpens the mind and toughens the body. It can also help develop the skills learned in forms and apply them to real life situations. Students will be taught many levels of defensive and offensive fighting strategies. These strategies can be useful either in the classroom, or for self-defense in the real world. |
